About Our Buick Locksmith Service in Dallas-Fort Worth

Buick in Dallas-Fort Worth spans a wide range of immobilizer eras: LeSabre, Park Avenue, Century and Lucerne sedans still in daily use, parked a few streets from Encore GX and Enclave crossovers in Plano, Frisco and Southlake. Those eras do not behave alike. A 2003 Century has no transponder in its key at all. A 2012 LaCrosse is either an HU100 flip or a proximity fob depending on trim. A 2022 Encore GX will not learn a key until a CAN-FD adapter and an externally sourced security PIN are connected. We carry the Original Lishi HU100 and B111 / B106 decoders, the HU100 / B119, B111-PT, B107-PT, B99-PT, B97-PT and B91 blanks, and the Autel IM508 / IM608 with the GM CAN-FD adapter.

    Buick Key Technology Explained

Buick runs through five distinct immobilizer families in our reference data. The 2000-2005 Century uses GM Passlock and the 2000-2004 Regal uses Passlock II, both with no transponder chip in the key. GM PK3 (Passkey 3) with an ID13 Megamos chip covers the 2000-2005 LeSabre and Park Avenue, the 2002-2007 Rendezvous, the 2004-2007 Rainier, the 2005-2007 Terraza and the 2005-2009 LaCrosse. Circle Plus ID46 on the warded GM Z-keyway covers the 2006-2011 Lucerne, recorded as GM PK3+ (Circle Plus), and the 2008-2017 Enclave, whose record calls the chip a Philips ID46 / GM Circle Plus 46 (PCF7936, masked as GM48) and notes it is the non-high-security B111 keyway, not the newer HU100 / B119. Around 2010 the HU100 laser keyway arrives with GM ID46 on the turn-key trims, though the entries label the silicon differently: the LaCrosse, Regal and Verano flip records read GM ID46 (Philips Crypto2 / Hitag2), while the turn-key Encore record reads GM Hitag2 / ID46 (PCF7937E). The proximity LaCrosse, Regal, Verano, Envision and Cascada entries are GM PEPS ID46 (Hitag2); the push-to-start Encore is recorded as GM Hitag2 / ID46 (GM EXT). From 2020 the Encore GX, and from 2024 the Enclave, move to GM Global B on CAN-FD.

Buick Models We Service Most Often in DFW

    Buick Enclave

Two unrelated platforms under one badge. The 2018-2024 second gen is GM Hitag2 / ID46 (NCF2951E) at 433.92 MHz, and the FCC tells you the path: HYQ4EA is the Global A route, HYQ4ES the Global B one. Our record scopes Global A to the 2018-2021 standard-OBD builds and warns that later builds transition to Global B / CAN FD, so we check the build rather than assume a no-adapter job; the 2024 HYQ4ES car is Global B. All-keys-lost on this entry is logged at 20-45 minutes; on the Global A path that is read PIN over OBD, then learn the fob in the console slot with every other fob out of the car. The 2008-2017 first generation is nothing like it: a B111-PT transponder blade on the warded GM Z-keyway with a separate keyless-entry remote (OUC60221 / OUC60270), read with an Original Lishi B111, and its record states the immobilizer is ID46 with no PIN required.

    Buick Encore

One nameplate, two immobilizer jobs. Base turn-key flip trims (2013-2022) are GM Hitag2 / ID46 (PCF7937E), FCC OHT01060512 at 315 MHz on an HU100 / B119 blade, all-keys-lost 15-25 minutes over standard OBD. Our record notes some early 2013-2014 cars carry AVL-B01T1AC instead, with 2014-2022 on OHT01060512, so the FCC gets matched to the car. The Preferred II / Essence trims with Keyless Open and Start, mainly from the 2017 facelift, are push-to-start on the HYQ4AA fob at 315 MHz, all-keys-lost 15-30 minutes. Both Encore entries record standard OBD-II with no gateway and the Global A label - that is the Encore specifically, not a brand-wide claim. Some 2016 push-start builds are reported, so we confirm START button versus key cylinder at the vehicle.

    Buick Encore GX

Not a bigger Encore. The 2020-2024 Encore GX is GM Global B on CAN-FD with the HYQ4ES fob at 433.92 MHz. The CAN FD adapter is mandatory, the PIN is not free from GM and comes via SPS2 or a third-party source, and the learn runs a door open/close cycle against a roughly 12-minute tool timer - 30-60 minutes all-keys-lost. Suppliers list the chip family inconsistently (ID46 versus ID49 AES), so our note is to treat it as Global B and fit OEM rather than burn a blank. The same HYQ4ES fob crosses to the 2024 Enclave and the Envista.

    Buick Envision

The generation gap is a frequency gap. First-gen 2016-2020 cars are GM PEPS ID46 (Hitag2) on the HYQ4AA fob at 315 MHz, recorded as a 5-button. Second-gen 2021-onward cars moved to YG0G21TB2 at 433 MHz, recorded as 4 or 5-button. Both cut an HU100 emergency insert, read with the Lishi HU100 our Envision entries label 10-cut. The HYQ4AA family overlaps the push-to-start Encore, which our Encore entry lists as a 3 or 4-button fob - same family, different button count, so we match the part number, not the family.

    Buick Regal & Verano

Three ID46 Regal cases and two Verano cases, all on the HU100 keyway - the 2000-2004 W-body Regal is a separate Passlock II car. The 2011-2017 Regal shipped as a turn-key OHT01060512 flip at 315 MHz and as a PEPS proximity trim on NBG009768T at 315 MHz, common on GS and push-start trims. The 2018-2020 Regal Sportback, TourX and GS is a different fob again - HYQ4EA at 433 MHz, shared with the Enclave. The Verano is a 2012-2017 turn-key OHT01060512 flip and a 2013-2017 PEPS flip on OHT05918179, both 315 MHz, and the PEPS Verano still gets a cut HU100 / B119 blade even though it starts on proximity. Checking the ignition and the FCC, not the year, is what gets these right.

    Buick LaCrosse

    Three eras under one badge. 2005-2009 is PK3 with an ID13 Megamos chip on the GM Z-keyway B107-PT / PT04-PT, read with the Lishi B111 / B106, remote KOBGT04A. 2010-2016 splits into an HU100 / B119 ID46 flip (OHT01060512, 315 MHz) and a PEPS smart fob (NBG009768T / NBG010206T, 315 MHz) - both entries warn that all-keys-lost may run a roughly 30-minute security wait. 2017-2019 is PEPS ID46 on HYQ4EA at 433 MHz with an HU100 emergency insert.

    Buick Cascada

The odd one in the data. The 2016-2019 Opel-based convertible is filed under GM PEPS ID46 (Hitag2) with FCC KR55WK50073 at 315 MHz, but the record lists it as a flip key with RKE and a keyed ignition, not a push-button car - the HU100 blade is cut for the door and valet even so. Decoded with the Lishi HU100 our entry labels 10-cut, and all-keys-lost may need a relearn.

Common Buick Key Problems We Solve

A 315 MHz fob ordered for a 433 MHz Buick

HYQ4AA is 315 MHz and appears on two Buicks in our data: the 2017-2022 push-to-start Encore and the 2016-2020 Envision. HYQ4EA is 433 MHz and appears on the 2018-2023 Enclave, the 2018-2020 Regal and the 2017-2019 LaCrosse - our Encore note says outright not to order a 433 HYQ4EA for an Encore. The 2011-2017 push-to-start Regal is neither: it is NBG009768T at 315 MHz. The housings look interchangeable and the programming will not take. We read the FCC ID off the VIN build before sourcing anything.

Turn-key and push-to-start in the same model year

Encore, Regal, Verano and LaCrosse each have separate turn-key and push-to-start entries with overlapping years: Encore 2013-2022 flip against 2017-2022 smart, Regal 2011-2017 flip against 2011-2017 PEPS, Verano 2012-2017 flip against 2013-2017 PEPS flip, LaCrosse 2010-2016 flip against 2010-2016 PEPS. Ordering off the nameplate instead of the ignition produces a fob that will not program to the car. The Encore record also flags reported 2016 push-start builds, so the trim gets confirmed at the vehicle.

An Encore GX or 2024 Enclave written off as dealer-only

Both are GM Global B on a CAN-FD bus. Without the CAN FD adapter the programmer does not negotiate with the vehicle, and the PIN has to be sourced outside the car: the Encore GX record states it is not free from GM and comes through SPS2 or a third-party service, while the 2024 Enclave record calls for an externally sourced PIN without naming the channel. It is a hardware and PIN-sourcing problem rather than a dealer-only one, and the 2024 Enclave shares the HYQ4ES fob with the Encore GX and the Envista.

Security lamp stays lit on an older Buick after a no-start

The documented remedy differs by family. On a Passlock Century or Regal the record is the 30-minute relearn: ignition ON for about ten minutes until the lamp goes out, OFF, repeated three times. On PK3 cars - LeSabre, Park Avenue, Rendezvous, Rainier, Terraza, 2005-2009 LaCrosse - the same 3 x 10-minute relearn is listed as the alternative to OBD programming once the BCM security PIN has been read. The 2008-2017 Enclave carries the same 30-minute on-board fallback, plus a 10-minute on-board add-a-key when a working key is still in hand.

How Our Buick Key Replacement Process Works

    1. 1

Identify the era from the VIN, the FCC ID and the ignition

Before a van leaves we establish which Buick immobilizer family the car belongs to and whether the ignition is a cylinder or a START button. On the Enclave the FCC settles the path: HYQ4EA is the Global A route, HYQ4ES the Global B one. The Enclave record also warns that later second-gen builds transition to Global B / CAN FD, so the model year on its own is not enough.

    2. 2

      Mobile dispatch across the Metroplex

      A stocked van reaches most Dallas-Fort Worth addresses in 20-30 minutes, carrying HU100 / B119 (B119-PT), B111-PT, B107-PT / PT04-PT, B99-PT, B97-PT and B91 / B89 blanks so the blade is cut on the spot rather than ordered.

    3. 3

Lishi-decode the lock and cut the blade

On the Enclave, Encore and Encore GX entries our records say nothing is stamped on the car and the code is dealer-only by VIN, so we read the cylinder instead. Original Lishi HU100 on the driver door for laser keys and fob emergency blades - our records label that tool v.3 GM 8-cut on the Enclave 2nd gen, Encore and Encore GX, and 10-cut on the LaCrosse, Regal, Verano, Envision and Cascada, so both decoders travel. Original Lishi B111 / B106 handles the warded GM Z-keyway on the Lucerne, 2008-2017 Enclave and 2005-2009 LaCrosse. The turn-key Encore record calls for confirming the cut blade actually turns the ignition before programming starts, and that is the check we run on keyed Buicks.

    4. 4

      Program to the immobilizer

The turn-key Encore: Autel IM508 or IM608 over standard OBD, Global A auto-PIN, then erase and learn the flip - that entry's path is Key Learning, with no separate read-PIN step. The push-to-start Encore and the 2018-2021 Enclave: same tool over standard OBD, read PIN, then Smart Key Learning, and both of those entries call for every other fob to be out of the vehicle. The HU100 ID46 flip and PEPS entries - LaCrosse 2010-2019, Regal 2011-2020, Verano, Envision and Cascada: collect immobilizer data over OBD and add the key, allowing for the security relearn wait those records warn about. PK3 cars and the 2006-2011 Lucerne PK3+ Circle Plus: read the immobilizer / BCM PIN over OBD, cut the blade, program the chip - the 2008-2017 Enclave is Circle Plus ID46 as well, but its record states no PIN is required. Encore GX: CAN FD adapter plus a PIN sourced through SPS2 or a third party, then the door open/close cycle worked against the roughly 12-minute tool timer. The 2024 Enclave HYQ4ES: CAN FD adapter for the Global B path plus an externally sourced PIN, then Read PIN and Smart Key Learning - that entry records no door cycle and no tool timer. Passlock Century and Regal builds need only the cut blade - there is no chip to program.

    5. 5

Test the car, including the dead-fob start

We check start, the door lock and whichever remote functions that car actually has. On proximity Buicks we also walk you through the backup placement recorded for your model: on the 2018-2024 Enclave, lift the rubber mat at the bottom of the center console for the fob-shaped depression, buttons up; on the push-to-start Encore, drop the fob buttons-up into the front cup holder - that entry's slot note says it is not a start-button hold, while the same entry's dead-fob line records holding the fob near START, so we try both at the car; on the Encore GX it is the rear of the center-console tray, just ahead of the storage bin. Then brake and START.
